his story
❦ / briar, along with his twin brother dylan, are orphans. he has very little to no recollection of his early childhood years after being abandoned in the orphanage at such a young age, and would only get adopted at the age of ten; much later than his twin brother did.
unlike his twin brother who got adopted by a reputable family, briar was adopted by a mafia leader whose gang sells off a variety of drugs in the city to earn money. briar wasn't in any way mistreated. they gave him shelter, clothed him, and took care of him like their own family; but their sole purpose of adopting briar was for him to work for them once he's capable enough to do so. they trained him extensively, which earned him tons of skills even before he reached puberty.
briar's first kill was at sixteen. it was also around that age did kit, briar's dæmon, finally settle into his form as a black cat, tagging along in each of briar's mission.
years later, at some point in his secret profession, a client of his asked to assassinate a certain ceo of a certain company - which, turned out to be his twin brother, dylan. briar was firmly set to kill his brother out of spite upon seeing how well-off he's been doing, but the latter managed to beg his way out of death in exchange of losing his fiancé, leaving him with his kids without a mother figure.
❦ / apart from his grisly job, briar leads a pretty normal life as a university student who gets pretty average grades; his habit of skipping class being the only reason why he fails subjects most of the time.
❦ / dæmons are an external manifestation of a person's inner-self and his subconscious. it takes the form of an animal, and would change from time to time until it is officially 'settled'. they are also capable of speaking, and can appear/disappear whenever he pleases to.
❦ / briar's dæmon is named kit, and takes the form of a black cat. he is deceptive and would rather avoid conflict than face it head on, and will also disappear whenever briar gets into trouble.
kit is short-tempered but very affectionate to people that briar is also affectionate with, and loves all the attention he could possibly get. if he doesn't get what he wants, he will throw a tantrum (i.e. not eating and sulking all day). but despite everything, kit remains loyal and protective over briar and would do anything for him.
